When the chat is ended, the log file is compiled and is given the extension of PLE. This file now contains and encrypted version of chat between the two users. This file is used by the Microsoft Messenger to load the chat anytime when the user logs on to the messenger again. The Microsoft Messenger decrypts the log file and shows data to user.
