What is a .H265 file?

An .h265 file is a raw H.265/HEVC video elementary stream, pure compressed video with no container, no audio, and no timing metadata. VLC plays it directly. To make it work in any player, remux it to MP4 with ffmpeg: `ffmpeg -i in.h265 -c copy out.mp4`. This takes seconds with no quality loss.

Why can't some files be converted?
Files protected with DRM (for example purchased iTunes .m4p songs or some .wmv rentals) are encrypted. We can show what's inside, but nobody can convert them without the key.
